General Mobile Radio Service Network (GMRS)

our mission

Supported by Hoodland Fire, the Hoodland Community Planning Organization (CPO), and the Mt Hood Corridor Wildfire Partnership, the Hoodland Emergency Communication Network (HECN) is a group of residents committed to building communications resiliency in the Mt. Hood Corridor. Using GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) radios the group has established communications from Lolo Pass to Brightwood. From Welches to Government Camp. To expand the range of the network they have installed repeaters donated from various sources including Portland General Electric. The repeaters boost both range and clarity.

community programs

General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) training, support, and engagement for use casually or in the event of an area wide emergency. It is part of planning and preparation for emergency response by individuals. We now have 80 or more members most with GMRS Radios. We have six repeaters from Government Camp to Brightwood.
